October is National Bully Prevention Month. PES will be celebrating Unity Day on October 25th by wearing Orange! In preparation for discussions and activities on Unity Day my lessons in all grade levels will be on kindness this month!

5th grade students will read and discuss the book 'One' by Kathryn Otoshi. We will reflect on people who have made a difference in their lives and how they hope to be the one to make a difference in someone else's life. We also will watch a cute video of a middle school that reenacted the book 'One'.

4th grade students will be getting advice from the one and only Kid President on how to spread Good! We will discuss in the context of kindness and students will create posters inspiring others to spread 'Good!' Check out some great posters made by Mrs. McCallister's class!

Second grade students will be returning for another Froggy and Friends puppet show! This time Froggy will tame a bully! We will be making bully bugs to help us remember what we can do if someone is bulling or being mean to us. We also discussed the definition of bullying-repeated, pattern of mean behavior!

First grade students are Bucket Fillers this month! We will be reading one of my favorite books, 'Have You Filled A Bucket Today?'. Students will learn the difference between bucket fillers and bucket dippers! We will practice filling up each other's buckets!

Kindergarten is all about Spookly the Square Pumpkin the month! We always love when Spookly comes out to meet us and teach us his important lesson about being kind to people, no matter how they may be different from us!
