Visit this website for the history and information about Unity Day, developed by PACER.org
http://www.pacer.org/bullying/nbpm/unity-day.asp This month third grade classes are reading the book 'Don't Laugh at Me' and we are discussing it. After our discussion students are making posters to hang up around the school to encourage everyone to be kind to everyone, despite their differences. See some awesome ones below!
All current Buddy to Buddy members will meet tomorrow, Friday at 2:00pm in Mrs. Dedmond's classroom! See you then!
The fifth grade lesson for October is my favorite activity of all time! Students are divided into groups and given a task. The task is to build the tallest freestanding structure they can using only the materials I give them. The materials are a yard length of tape and a bag full of 10 balloons. This activity always inspires creativity and a great discussion of team work. This year we also brainstormed 5 different habits of the mind the activity required.
